    Description

    NUMARK TC4100 MIXER
    Tone Calibrator
If you need to switch audio inputs and outputs for up to four tape decks, VCR's, CD/DVD players or recorders, your PC sound card, or any other two channel audio player or recorder, you should have this device on your short list.
This device will occupy the tape monitor circuit in your receiver and will then provide you with input/output jacks to connect up to four stereo devices with complete switching capability.
You'll find here very convenient features that simply don't exist in other switching units.
Go look at the DBX-200X, DBX-400, VancoTDS-3, SONY SB-300, the AKAI DS-5 or most any other tape deck switching unit out there for comparison.
    See if
    ANY
    of them include
    ANY
of the following features of the NUMARK TC4100:
    ·
    Two VU meters
    ·
    Internal tone generator
    ·
Signal level adjustment for the individual decks
    ·
Complete input and output switching for each tape deck
    ·
Rear panel inputs & outputs for up to four stereo tape decks
The Numark TC4100 is the only unit noted here that offers ANY of these significant features, and the Numark offers
    ALL of them
    !
HOWEVER, the original pots used in this machine are very problematic.
I’ve written ad nauseam about that in two other TC4100 eBay listings you may want to read. Those listings offer a repair kit (new pots and meter lamps) forcurrent TC4100 owners and also offer TC4100’s with probable issues and the repair kit that will resolve those issues.
    THIS listing
offers the TC4100, fully functional, with the repair kit already installed, all push buttons De-Ox’ed, and ready to go.
The higher price in this listing essentially pays for the time to repair the mixer. This alternative is made available for those who would prefer a turnkey solution, or those who don’t have adequate technical skills to install the replacement parts themselves.
This particular unit has aminor modification that should please reel to reel owners.
The built in signal generator initially provides a choice of 400Hz or 8kHz.
By replacing one capacitor with one of higher value the 8kHz frequency has been changed to 16kHz, much more suitable for the frequency response of reel to reel decks as opposed to cassette decks.
    So!
To be clear here, what I’m selling in this listing is a used, but cosmetically acceptable (see photos), Numark TC4100 that has a full set of new pots and meter lamps installed.
Also, the 12 pushbuttons have been de-ox’ed.
This item is listed as RETURNABLE within 30 days of arrival.
Anyone selling a similar item and claiming that it works perfectly either has the one in a hundred machines that actually does work perfectly, or maybe just doesn't know how, or doesn’t have the equipment, thoroughly test it.
(It takes four tape decks to fully test this device.)
I’ve certainly bought my share of “works perfectly’ units that immediately failed as described here upon arrival and initial testing.
If you’ve become so enamored with the feature set of the TC4100 and want to own one you have several choices at a variety of prices.
    ·
You can buy this one, install it in your audio system, and be all set for many years.
    ·
    ·
You can buy someone else’s, occasionally listed hereon eBay.
These are generally listed as either“for parts” or “untested and not returnable.”
In that case plan on spending another plus shipping with me to purchase the repair kit you’re going to need (available in a different listing).
And plan on spending some time (2-4 hours, ora week, or forever depending on your technical skills) installing the kit.
An alternative to that would be to ask a more technical friend to install the kit for you or pay a local technician maybe a hundred bucks or so to install it.

    ·
Buy one of my unrepaired TC4100’s along with the repair kit available in a different listing.
Caveats noted in the second option (above) apply here also.
Depending on your technical skills any of the above options could be your best choice.
I should note here that having sold dozens of the repair kits the vast majority (95+%) of those buyers successfully installed it without issue, maybe after a question or two.
I can recall three buyers who had trouble with the installation.
Based on conversations with them I can say that all three took on a more challenging project than their technical skills could support.
I'll include a copy of a fourpage installation document that came with my original unit in 1983.
Stated shipping is for the lower 48 states and includes insurance and packing material.
The photos in this listing are of the exact machine you will receive, serial number 66180179.
Please take a look at my feedback: 100% positive with hundreds of items sold.
    Thanks for looking!
