Nakamichi 682ZX, 3 head cassette deck,serviced,Nichicon Muse,Elna Silmic caps.

Description

Up for auction is a Nakamichi 682ZX, 3 head stereo cassette deck. The deck is fully serviced and the following repairs have been done:
- Cleaned the heads and the pinch rollers.
- Changed the belts and the idler tire.
- Cleaned the old lubricants from gears/shafts and lubricated the transport mechanism.
- Lubricated the motors shafts, adjusted the speed, W&F 0.035% to 0.045%.
- Checked and aligned the playback/record heads for correct height and azimuth.
- Replaced the reel sensor and functions lamps.
- Replaced the cassette door and counter lamps using LEDs.
- Cleaned the switches and potentiometers using deoxit D5.
- Replaced the electrolytic caps in the audio circuits using Elna Silmic II and Nichicon Muse non polar caps.
- Replaced the electrolytic caps  in the power supply/logic circuits using Nichicon FG and United (Nippon) chem-icon caps.
- Replaced the orange polypropylene caps using WIMA  caps. All the caps have been selected piece by piece to have the same exactly values for perfect balance between the channels.
- Increased the value of the +12V power supply filter cap from 6800uF to 10000uF and -12V from 2200uF to 3300uF.
- Increased the value of the +/-12V power supply filter caps on the main board from 1000uF to 2200uF.
- Increased the value of the four playback amp power supply filter caps from 47uF to 470uF.
- Increased the value of the four Dolby power supply filter caps from 470uF to 1000uF.
- Upgraded the record and line out op-amps using the OPA2227 and LME49720 op-amps respectively.
- Adjusted the electronics for correct VU meter/playback/oscillators/record reference levels using Maxell UR, TDK SA/MA tapes.
All the functions are operating as they should be, playback, record, ff, rew, pause, RAMM, counter, counter memory, Mpx, pitch control, oscillators, auto calibration, Dolby B & C. The sound and stereo image are just amazing, the bass is tight, the vocals are very defined, the high frequencies are clear, both in playback and recording modes. The auto calibration function is very accurate. The cassette mechanism run smoothly and is silent in ff and rew modes. Externally the unit is close to mint condition, considering the age (see pictures). The deck was never serviced before and from the condition of the old belts and tire I can tell that the deck has low hours of use and it was stored properly.
This is a 120V model, S/N 03511, production date 1981. With the deck are included the old parts. All the questions are very welcome.
