    Description

Here is a psychologically probing original US theatrical 40" x 60" movie poster for the American International release of Francis Ford Coppola's atmospheric directorial debut Dementia 13 (1963), a hectic murder-mystery that takes full advantage of its Howth Castle/Irish moors location settings. While not dependent on graphic violence to generate shocks inspired by Hitchcock's Psycho (1960), as the painting on the poster shows, and the taglines warn, there are moments of brutality that push the limits of what had been deemed acceptable on American movie theatre screens up to that point. It would be five years later that the MPAA would start it's obligatory film ratings system.
