    Description

This print is restored from a 1940's postcard with text:
The Columbian, B&O Strata-Dome Coach Streamliner.
    It is printed on
    matte cardstock photo paper
with Canon inks that are guaranteed for 100 years without fading.
Even schoolchildren know that the first railroad in the US was the famous Baltimore and Ohio which opened in 1830 competing with newly competed canals into the West (being Appalachia). The B&O connected major east coast cities of New York, Philadelphia, Baltimore and Washington DC to the industrial cities of the Midwest including Chicago, St. Louis, Cleveland, and Cincinnati. In 1901 the B&O was acquired by the Pennsylvania Railroad. In 1963 the Chesapeake and Ohio took control of the B&O and later was absorbed into the CSX in 1986. Its most famous passenger routes were on the highly competitive Chicago to New York City/Washington DC on both the Columbian and Capital Limited.
The Columbian traversed between Jersey City and Baltimore/Washington to Chicago was the first air-conditioned passenger train in North America and an all Pullman Service. A 1940’s menu of The Columbian Lounge has Manhattan’s and Martini’s for $.55 and an Old Fashioned for only $.05 more. Beers or Ales for only $.35. The special appears to be a “Casserole of De Luxe Crab Flakes, au gratin.
This poster comes framed in an 11"x17" frame with solid plastic trim with a glass cover and we ship it so it won't break in transit. Any watermark is only on website photos and not placed on our final prints.
