    Description

A original cover with 1937 contents carried aboard the last flight of the airship “Hindenburg” in May of 1937.
The German issued airmail stamp is tied to the cover with the Frankfurt Flug- und Luftschiffhafen 1.5.37 (May 1, 1937) postmark.
The post with a domestic destination was dropped at Köln and got a rectangular red cachet “Wegen Ausfall der Deutschlandfahrt Postabwurf bei der Nordamerikafahrt” (Because the cancel of the Deutschland flight post dropped on the North Atlantic flight.)
The cover shows a back stamp arrival cancel at Köln of 3.5.37 (May 3, 1937).
The red lilac official cachet - “Luftschiff Hindenburg Deutschland flight 1 May 1937” indicating the cover was indeed carried on the airship Hindenburg on its May 1937 flight to North America where the airship burned and crashed on its arrival at Lakehurst, NJ on May 6, 1937.
Both the cover and the Germany issued airmail stamp are in good fault free condition.(Please view the scans.)
