"The citizens of the southern town Pleasant Valley lure six Yankee tourists into town where they are to be the reluctant guests for the centennial celebration of the day a band of renegade Union troops decimated the town. The town then participates in events, a different event for each of the tourists, in which the tourist is dispatched. One couple begins to suspect something and seeks a way to escape." BEHIND THE SCENES TRIVIA : Filmed in just 14 Days. Director Herschell Gordon Lewis has often cited this movie as his personal favorite of his films. The plot of this gore film was inspired by the musical Brigadoon (1954). This film was reportedly shot in an area of Orlando, Florida, that is now occupied by Walt Disney World. Inspired plot points and the title for John Waters 1970 film "Multiple Maniacs" This film inspired the name of American alternative rock band '10,000 Maniacs'. Connie Mason, playing the part of Terry Adams, was Playboy magazine's Playmate of the Month for its June 1963 issue.
